This syllabus has been designed to provide a basic background of chemistry that would be required by those intending to proceed to higher studies as well as those who intend to make use of chemistry knowledge at the Advanced Level in different disciplines. The syllabus consists of 14 units presented in a logical sequence for teaching, learning, and assessment.

Aims
At the end of the course students will be able to:
- 1.Understand the basic concepts of chemistry and appreciate the unifying themes and patterns within the subject.
- 2.Develop logical, speculative, and creative thinking skills relevant to chemistry.
- 3.Recognize the usefulness of chemistry to the individual, society, and the economy.
- 4.Develop practical and investigative skills with emphasis on safety.
